THE MAN

American Actor, Author Ro Brooks, born Jerome Curtis Brooks Jr. grew up in West Baltimore. Ro’s natural acting ability was cultivated by his Grandmother and Great Aunt, who would encourage Ro and his three older sisters to perform dance and musical routines for them by throwing change at their feet. During his younger years, Ro began developing his musical prowess by rapping and dancing at local talent shows and events. While attending Walbrook High School, Ro’s early success started when he got together with a group of friends and formed the rap group Twice As Nice. The group performed at local venues and later won a talent show that earned them a spot on the bill at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater for a taping of Showtime at the Apollo. They went on to win and became the first rap group to win on “Amateur Night”. A few years later, Ro landed his first role (as an Extra) in the feature film Meteor Man, directed by Robert Townsend. He has gone on to work with other acclaimed directors such as, Michael Bay, Quentin Tarantino, Fab 5 Freddy, Simon West, Michael Mann and Tyler Perry.

Ro has worked on numerous films, commercials and television shows including Films: Transformers; Revenge of the Fallen, Mysterious Ways, starring opposite Emmy Award Winner, Wendy Raquel Robinson, A Beautiful Soul starring opposite Harry Lennix and Squatters starring Richard Dreyfuss; Television: Fox’s Emmy Award Winning Brooklyn Nine-Nine, HBO’s critically acclaimed The Wire,  Showtime’s Emmy Award Winning Shameless, FX’s Emmy Nominated Sons of Anarchy, BET’s The New Edition Story, Own’s #1 series The Haves and the Have Nots, FOX’s 24, CBS’s CSI New York, El Rey’s Matador and many more. Ro also starred in the National Marine Corps Commercial Campaign “The Land We Love” and starred opposite International Actor, Idris Elba in the 4 minute long interactive Toyota Avalon Commercial Campaign.

With a background in music, Ro welcomed the opportunity to return to his musical roots while integrating and expanding on his acting talents to include music videos, working with such artist as: Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, Lil’ Wayne, TI, Jill Scott, Syleena Johnson, Young Jeezy, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Lil’ Mo and Master P. just to name a few.

Ro Brooks is known for his dramatically, compelling role as Michael, on OWN’s – Tyler Perry’s, hit drama series “The Haves and the Have Nots”. He has also had the pleasure of working on BET’s, history breaking, three night mini-series, “The New Edition Story”. Ro joins cast of “Medinah”, as a series regular where he stars opposite Academy Award Nominee, Eric Roberts. ” Medinah” is a middle eastern Sci/Fi – Drama series set in Doha, Qatar where Ro plays a CIA agent sent to find his partner. Medinah is slated to release Winter 2022. Ro was awarded the “2017 Humanitarian Award of the Year”and the Trail Blazer Entertainer of the year Award in 2015. He shows his support in the fight against HIV by joining CDC’s “Doing It” campaign to help bring awareness to teens across America to the rapidly spreading illness as well as supporting the “Respect My Vote” campaign, where a large number of celebrities come together to help encourage and to stress the importance for EVERYONE to lift their Voices and Vote. Look out for Ro’s latest project to date “The Caregiver”, in 2023 as he moves quickly towards being one of Hollywood’s Leading Men.
